this is a place where i can store my collection of pieces of life that make me happy and even sometimes sad. regardless, i can escape here and breathe easy for a while.
This picture of an old Palestinian woman smoking a pipe was taken in Jerusalem in August 1918 as part of a large project to photograph all the peoples of the world in color using the autochrome method. The project was funded by a French millionaire named Albert Kahn but cut short when the stock market crashed in 1929 and the banker Kahn lost much of his wealth.
